Top 10 (15)

I like David Bordwell's top 10 criteria so I'm stealing it: "Not the best, but the movies I could watch anytime, anywhere; the movies that give me a warm burst of exhaltaiton." (in noparticular order)

1. Top Hat
2. Bringing Up Baby
3. Mon Oncle
4. Night of the Hunter
5. Vertigo
6. The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
7. Paris, Texas
8. Walkabout
9. Badlands
10. Au Hassard Balthazar

Sorry, 10 is just too hard

11. Kwaidon
12. Triplets of Bellville
13. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
14. I Walked with a Zombie
15. Treasure of the Sierra Madres

its nathan again.

heres my list (in alphabetical order)

E.T.
Five Easy Pieces
Forbidden Games
The Night of the Hunter
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Pulp Fiction
The Purple Rose of Cairo
Rear Window
The Shop Around the Corner
Taxi Driver

and, like you, ten just isn't enough, is it?

others that might be on a top ten if i'm in a different mood:

Magnolia
It's a Wonderful Life
The Conversation
The Searchers
A Man Escaped
Rashomon
Badlands
The Bicycle Thief
The Apartment
Black Narcissus

and the list could go on and on and on. i made this one under the assumption that a director could only have one movie on the list. and believe me martin scorsese, alfred hitchcock, billy wilder, terrance malick, and woody allen could have a top 20 with just their movies.
